The small hotel Mirabó de Valldemossa is located in the heart of the Balearic Island Majorca nestled in the beautiful mountains of Serra de Tramuntana. Those who wish to leave the mountains behind don’t have to go far neither: Hotel Mirabó de Valldemossa is the perfect starting point to explore the island of Majorca. For example take a drive to the island’s capital Palma de Mallorca (16 km) and enjoy the city’s almost infinite number of museums, expositions and cultural events as well as unlimited shopping and leisure activities. Also, thanks to its sophisticated gastronomy, Palma has an excellent reputation among gourmets from all over the world. Not to forget the numerous sights, for example the cathedral La Seu by the sea in the old town’s south and the Royal Palace Palau Reial de l'Almudaina. We particularly recommend to combine a city trip to Palma with a visit of Castell del Bellver. The fortress from the Middle Ages sits enthroned above the city and the harbour and is, with its round construction, an architectural highlight in Europe.

Beach and Sea

The Majorcan coast with its small bays and many beautiful beaches nearby invite to excursions by the sea. Enjoy the sun, read a good book in front of the Mediterranean panorama or simply close your eyes listening to the soft sound of the waves. The crystal clear water is perfect for swimming and diverse water sports activities, especially the bigger beaches are popular for the latter providing everything you need for your favourite water sport, for example the famous beach Es Trenc (40 km) and the Playa de Muro (45 km): boat rental, yacht charter, sailing, surfing, diving – everything is possible! The closest spots for bathing and swimming in the Mediterranean Sea are the Marina de Valldemossa (8 km) and Cala Deiá (15 km). About 25 km from the hotel, you’ll find the beautiful beaches of the bay Cala Falcó and of Puerto Soller. A very special service provides the taxi boat: explore the coast by boat and hop-off at selected restaurants.

Often our guests, once arrived at our hotel, simply want to stay forever. Well, we understand this desire but then again we don’t want you to miss the beauty of the Mediterranean coastline of Majorca. Although, of course, you don’t have to leave the hotel for swimming and sunbathing: our big infinity pool (13 m x 6 m) with its huge sun deck (300 sqm) is a true highlight. The view over the Majorcan landscape, the peace and quiet, the chirping of the birds – this is a place of absolute well-being and relaxation. For guests looking for a spot with more privacy, our second pool with be the perfect choice: a former natural pond has been transformed into a small pool (5 m x 5 m) and there is also a second sun deck by this pool (30 sqm) – the perfect place for two. Valldemossa

The village of Valldemossa lies picturesquely below the estate of Hotel Mirabó de Valldemossa about 2 km away. The panoramic view seduces our guests into visiting the small Majorcan village. Especially la Cartuja de Valldemossa, a former monastery of the Carthusian order, with its historically important monastic cells, the beautiful church and gardens is a perfect excursion destination in proximity to our small hotel in Majorca. The French writer George Sand and the famous composer Frédéric Chopin spent here the winter of 1847 and have been fascinated and inspired by the surrounding landscape. Chopin’s nocturnes show a lot of his emotions during his stay, as the saying goes. Years later, George Sand still daydreamt about her time at Valldemossa: “When the mud and fog of Paris depress me, I close my eyes and see again, like in a dream, those green mountains, those orange rocks and the lonely palm tree, lost in a rose sky." Also King Juan Carlos, Spain’s royal sovereign from 1975 to 2014, fell in love with Valldemossa and spent many summers here. Another must-see in Valldemossa is the palace Palacio del Rey Sancho with its beautiful gardens. A visit can be perfectly combined with a stroll through Valldemossa’s narrow alleyways full of flowers and history. Also culinarily, Valldemossa is very attractive with a broad gastronomic offer. All over the village there are restaurants, cafés and bars to answer the culinary needs of Valldemossa’s visitors at any time of the day.

Surroundings

In the surroundings of Valldemossa, numerous picturesque villages and towns are worth a visit, for example Deià (10 km), Sóller (25 km), Fornalutx (30 km), Estellencs (25 km), Andratx (35 km) and Banyalbufar (20 km). Nestled into the mountains, they are all characterized by the fantastic nature surrounding them and make every visitor fall in love with their unique charm. Particularly charming is Lluc (35 km) with its monastery Santuari de Santa Maria de Lluc, a famous pilgrimage site amidst the mountains of Serra de Tramuntana. It is known as Majorca’s spiritual centre.
